Sperm Cryopreservation

What Is It?

It is a technique of storing sperm samples by slowly freezing them in liquid nitrogen vapours. It is done to preserve them for future use.

When Is It Indicated?

In can be done when:

  • Husband unavailable to provide semen sample later on.

  • Husband has to undergo cancer chemotherapy/radiotherapy which could affect the quality of the sperms

​

What can the patient expect?

Sperms can be collected and analyzed by either ejaculation or Testicular sampling and can be used later on, when the patient plans to become pregnant, during an IUI/IVF cycle
