Recurrent IVF/Implantation Failure

What Is It?

Recurrent implantation failure refers to failure to achieve a clinical pregnancy after transfer of at least four good-quality embryos in a minimum of three fresh or frozen cycles in a woman. The failure to implant may be a consequence of embryo or uterine factors.

How is it managed?

Thorough investigations should be carried out to ascertain whether there is any underlying cause of the condition. Management includes:-

  • Diagnostic Techniques: Endometrial Receptivity Assay, Endometrial Lining Assessment, Immunological Testing, among others.

  • Therapeutic Techniques: G-CSF injections, intra-lipid, IV-Ig, use of Microliter syringes, and other treatment modalities based on the underlying etiology.

Our best case includes treating a patient of 6 previous IVF failures who conceived in her first cycle here. She was managed using intra-uterine G-CSF, and went on to deliver a healthy female child.
