Donor Egg

What Is It?

Egg donation is when a woman (donor) gives her eggs to another woman (recipient) to allow the recipient to have a baby. Egg donors are screened for HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, Thyroid disorders and Hemoglobinopathies.

When Is It Indicated?

Donor eggs are used when there is a complete absence of eggs, or otherwise cannot be used. This can occur in instances like:

  • Primary Amenorrhea

  • Premature Ovarian Failure

  • Menopausal Age Group

  • Poor Quality of Eggs

What can the patient expect?

Steps similar to a normal IVF cycle are followed uptil the collection of eggs. The ovulation cycles of both the recipient and the donor are synchronized. The eggs produced by the donor are directly fertilized in the laboratory by the recipient husband's sperms. Embryos thus formed are transferred into the patient's uterus.
